Abstract

Port Tampa Bay is the largest port in the State of Florida, handling over 37 million tons of cargo annually. Tampa Bay has an extensive culturally influenced history dating back to the 1500’s.
Today, PTB is responsible for an economic impact of $17.2 billion and provides over 85,000 direct and indirect jobs. PTB is recognized as a leader in the maritime industry and is setting an example for other nearby ports to follow. Port Tampa Bay anchors the regional economy, and it plays a critical role in Florida’s ongoing prosperity (Masterplan: Vision 2030, 2017). This case will outline PTB’s extensive history, the current impact of the port, and future impact of the port.
