Dr. Joseph Heinzman, Jr. BIO 

Dr. Joseph Heinzman, Jr. is an accomplished academic and business leader with a rich career spanning teaching, research, and managerial roles. He earned his MBA in 1993 and later his DBA in 2004, transitioning from adjunct teaching to full-time academia for 19 years. His extensive contributions include 24 years at Lockheed Martin, where he served in business and project management, and significant roles in academic conference leadership, publishing 18 peer-reviewed papers, chairing doctoral dissertations, and serving on numerous boards and community organizations. 

Dr. Heinzman’s academic journey is marked by a notable trajectory of achievement and leadership. He began with an MBA in 1993, initially serving as an adjunct professor for a decade before attaining his DBA degree in 2004. With his doctorate, his career in academia intensified, encompassing full-time teaching and a span of 19 years holding various academic leadership roles.

His professional background extends beyond academia, with 24 years dedicated to business and project management at Lockheed Martin until his retirement in 2004. Dr. Heinzman’s academic contributions are prolific, having chaired four successful doctoral dissertations, presented 13 papers at academic conferences, and published 18 peer-reviewed papers in journals, in addition to his dissertation. His involvement in the Academy of Management (AOM) is extensive, including serving as session chair four times, paper facilitator at national conferences, and holding the role of session discussant for seven years. He has also served as an AOM peer reviewer for 17 years and as an Institutional Review Board (IRB) member at South University for three years.

In his nearly three decades of teaching experience, Dr. Heinzman has taught undergraduate and graduate Business, Management, HRM, Project Management, Behavioral Studies, and Accounting courses. Beyond teaching, he has actively contributed to over 20 not-for-profit boards, Angel Investing Boards, business incubators, and more than 20 community organizations in diverse capacities.

His administrative roles in academic management include serving as Program Manager for the MBA/MPA programs at Hodges University, Dean of the School of Business at Colorado Technical University in Colorado Springs, and as Business Programs Department Chair and College of Business Tampa Program Chair at South University. Through these roles, Dr. Heinzman has demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and community service, impacting his students and the broader educational community.
